About

My name is Jacob Kornfeld, and I am a User Experience Designer and Researcher with experience in product design, usability testing, interface design, and front-end development.

My interest in UX began with noticing the small frustrations built into everyday products, from confusing payment terminals to websites and mobile apps that hide information beneath layers of menus. I started questioning why these products worked the way they did and how they could be made more intuitive. I became especially interested in how design decisions affect people working in complex, demanding environments where clarity and confidence genuinely matter.

While studying User Experience Design at DePaul, I developed my skills across research, prototyping, visual design, and interaction design. My work has ranged from studying collaborative learning experiences at Northwestern to redesigning a Caterpillar payload monitoring interface for heavy-machinery operators. I hope to keep creating thoughtful, practical experiences that make complicated systems feel clearer and more human.
